Online retail holds steady while travel buying declines, comScore reports
Online retail spending last week held steady with spending of the previous two weeks, matching the levels of an average pre-Sept. 11 week, comScore Networks reports. Online travel spending suffered a setback as the FBI issued new terrorist warnings.
The comScore statistics are based on the online activity of a representative cross section of over 1.5 million Internet users, who have given comScore permission to confidentially and passively monitor their browsing and buying behavior.
Here’s what comScore reports for all online spending (including travel and event tickets), travel only and other spending not including travel, in millions. The percentage changes in all cases are from pre-attack levels.
