Discovery Commerce has connections among suppliers

Discovery Commerce is integrating supplier connectivity across its multi-channel supply chain and virtual inventory fulfillment capabilities in an effort to expand its multi-platform e-commerce markets.

The single platform will allow the multi-channel retailer to integrate both new suppliers and new retailers into a streamlined fulfillment process for online and catalog orders as well as help it achieve rapid virtual inventory expansion by enabling multiple channel suppliers to fulfill orders directly to customers, the company says.

Discovery Commerce, the retail and licensing arm of Discovery Communications Inc., selected Commerce Technologies Inc.’s CommerceHub Universal Connection Hub and Drop-Ship Master systems to enable the new functionality. Discovery Communications is No. 195 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites.

The retailer grew sales by 32% in 2005 to $34.2 million, up from $25.9 million in 2004, according to Internet Retailer estimates.
