UBid.com buys Bidville.com for undisclosed amount
UBid.com Holdings Inc. has bought the key assets of online auction company Bidville Inc. for an undisclosed amount, uBid.com said yesterday. The purchase, made through uBid subsidiary DIBU Trading Corp., includes the company’s customer file, brand name, URL and related online auction technologies.
Bidville’s membership file has an estimated 900,000 customers and prospects, and its web site technology platform includes features such as store fronts, fraud protection, private auctions and unique seller tools, uBid said.
“Bidville’s consumer-to-consumer platform is complementary to uBid.com’s current business-to-consumer and business-to-business marketplace,” said Robert Tomlinson Jr., uBid.com CEO. “It not only provides us with a new marketplace to expand our business but it also represents a great opportunity to cross-sell our current business to new customers.”
Bidville.com will remain a separate entity within the uBid.com Holdings group of companies.
