HSN AND UPS DELIVER SPEED & RELIABILITY FOR HOLIDAYS
Improved Deliveries, Fulfillment, Behind-the-Scenes Supply Chain
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Nov. 19, 2003 – TV shopping originator HSN has turned to UPS (NYSE:UPS) to improve delivery service for its customers, just in time for the holidays. Whether their purchases include a stylish new outfit from legendary singer/designer Patti Labelle or celebrity chef cookware from Wolfgang Puck, home shoppers are receiving their orders faster and with state-of-the-art visibility from order entry to the doorstep.
HSN engaged UPS in a multi-year agreement to streamline and re-engineer its entire fulfillment and supply chain operations.
"HSN is committed to providing our customers an exceptional shopping experience from start to finish, and UPS is helping us reach new standards of excellence through its broad capabilities," said Mark Ethier, HSN executive vice president of operations. "At no incremental cost to our customers, we will significantly improve our level of service through faster, more reliable delivery."
Packages reach HSN customers an average of two days faster, thanks to UPS’s massive package delivery network and the expertise of UPS Supply Chain Solutions, which is providing supply chain planning, freight transportation and brokerage services for ocean, air and ground shipments of inventory from around the world. UPS Supply Chain Solutions has re-engineered HSN’s supply chain by reconfiguring inbound and outbound logistics and tying together four distribution centers. UPS Supply Chain Solutions also is fulfilling orders for products at two facilities in California and New Jersey.
While gaining faster and more reliable delivery, HSN shoppers also have constant access to order status either on-line or via HSN’s toll-free customer service line. Additionally, HSN Customer Service representatives have shipment status at their fingertips, enabling them to quickly respond to customer inquiries.
"HSN customers now see their orders as they move through the UPS system and HSN has visibility of inventory movements as they move over land, ocean or air," said John Beystehner, UPS senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. "UPS is providing improved service from HSN’s operations to their home shopping customers."
