Blue Nile grows e-commerce sales 30% in the second quarter


Online jeweler Blue Nile Inc. is reporting sales of $56.9 million for the second quarter of 2006 compared with sales of $43.8 million in the second quarter of 2005, an increase of 29.9%. Net income in the second quarter totaled $3.1 million compared with $2.8 million the previous year.

“We delivered exceptional second quarter performance due to strong consumer demand in our core product offerings. Our aggressive pricing initiatives worked to accelerate our top-line growth,” says Blue Nile CEO Mark Vadon. “We are strategically well positioned as a result of our category leadership and our consumer value proposition. We remain focused on optimizing the significant long-term potential we have for growth and profitability.”

Blue Nile, No. 52 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, is expecting sales in the third quarter to range from $49.5 million to $52 million and to be between $240 million and $252 million for the fiscal year.
