YesMail to acquire Netcentives` e-mail marketing group

Chicago-based YesMail, a provider of e-mail marketing solutions, will buy Post Communications, the e-mail marketing subsidiary of Netcentives, YesMail announced today. With the acquisition, YesMail picks up 20 new clients.

Post Communications, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Netcentives since April 2000, includes among its clients Wegmans Food Market, Hewlett-Packard, 3Com and Countrywide Home Loans. YesMail says the acquisition will add a customer retention product to its lineup. Netcentives has been struggling financially all year.

YesMail says it intends to extend offers of employment to the bulk of Post's 75 current employees, most of whom are in Post's San Francisco office.

"With this acquisition, we are a stronger company that is better positioned to meet the needs of our customers, and we intend to be a real force in the explosive integrated email acquisition and retention market,” said Dave Menzel, CEO of YesMail. “Strategically, YesMail will gain significant benefit from the acquisition of a talented workforce, and expects to realize increased revenue from our combined product and service offerings, and operational efficiencies from integrating our businesses."

YesMail is a majority-owned operating company of CMGI Inc.
