Fulfillment not a problem so far this holiday season, says Keynote

Retailers so far are doing a stellar job of fulfilling orders placed over the web, says the latest weekly report from Keynote Systems Inc. Through Sunday, web-based retailers exceeded their delivery promises by 47%, meaning they are getting packages to consumers much faster than they promise on their web sites. The rate has deteriorated since Thanksgiving week, however, when retailers exceeded their promises by 55%. Test packages ordered by Keynote at 16 sites arrived in an average of 6.2 days. All exceeded or met delivery expectations.

As it was the previous week, Tower Records was the delivery standout—at least on the basis of beating its promise. Customers placing orders on the site expected delivery in an average 11.33 days, and actually received them in 3.64 days, or 67.89% faster than anticipated.

The top 10 in beating delivery promises are:
Tower Records: 67.89%
Kmart/Bluelight: 66.81%
J. Jill: 55.92%
Old Navy: 53.94%
Smarterkids.com: 53.41%
REI: 50.34%
KB Toys: 49.43%
eBags.com: 48.59%
Amazon.com: 45.28%
Barnes & Noble: 42.31%
Average: 46.89%
