SYNCRA ANNOUNCES VERSION 3.0 SUPPLY CHAIN VISIBILITY AND COLLABORATION PLATFORM
New release addresses broader customer and market needs beyond CPFR
Waltham, MA. - September 10, 2001 - Syncra Systems, Inc., a premier provider
of inter-enterprise supply chain collaboration solutions and the leader in
Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR(r))
implementations, today announced the immediate availability of Syncra
Version 3.0. With its extensive feature set, scalability to the largest
collaborative environments, and ability to manage, visualize and align
supply chain data from virtually any source, Version 3.0 extends Syncra`s
leadership position in the delivery of Internet-based supply chain
collaboration applications and expands its industry reach beyond its core
strength in consumer packaged goods and retail.
Syncra`s new Version 3.0 supply chain collaboration platform supports all
phases necessary to achieve improved supply chain alignment. These phases
range from total supply chain visibility within and/or outside an
enterprise, to integration with trading partner data for better alignment,
to complete inter-enterprise supply chain synchronization through
collaborative initiatives such as CPFR. In each phase, companies can expect
to reduce inventory, improve service levels, and improve sales.
The flexible data management and visualization capabilities, coupled with a
high-performance exception engine capable of processing a wide-range of
supply chain data from within and outside an organization, makes Syncra
Version 3.0 effective across a range of industry segments including apparel,
automotive, electronics/high tech and consumer goods and retail. Besides
forecasts, plans and actual sales that are core data elements of CPFR, data
streams such as work-in-process, finished goods and in-transit inventory can
improve supply chain operations. In addition, data streams such as sales
quota, co-marketing funds, and promotion effects can be monitored to improve
sales and customer relationships.
Kimberly-Clark Corporation selected Syncra`s supply chain collaboration
technology early on and has served as an active beta customer for Syncra`s
Version 3.0 in both the United States and Europe. "At Kimberly-Clark, we
prefer to be proactive with our trading partners," said Julien Dehaese,
supply chain analyst at Kimberly-Clark, France. "Syncra has done a great
job in the development of Syncra 3.0. Enhancements and new functionality
have been driven by customer needs, making the tool even more user-friendly
and effective. This new release speeds up our collaborative processes, which
greatly increases efficiency in our retailer-facing supply chains, lowers
our costs, and increases our revenues."
Syncra`s collaboration community is one of the largest in the industry. The
company is helping more than 50 leading suppliers, manufacturers and
retailers across a wide-range of industries align and synchronize their
forecasts and promotion plans, resulting in significantly reduced inventory,
fewer stock-outs, increased sales at both the brand and category level, and
improved customer service.
"Our customers are moving toward scaled deployments across increasingly
larger trading partner communities and want visibility into increasingly
diverse types of supply chain data. Syncra`s Version 3.0 was designed in
response to their needs," said Jeffrey Stamen, chief executive officer,
Syncra Systems. "This release extends our technology and market lead over
our competitors who are still struggling to address the most basic
one-to-one collaborative needs of their customers in pilot projects. Version
3.0 underscores Syncra`s continued commitment to provide our customers and
their trading partners with the industry`s most-scalable, best-performing,
and functionally-rich supply chain alignment and collaboration solution on
the market."
Syncra`s supply chain technology has been developed from the ground up using
open Internet, database and data interchange technologies including Java,
Oracle, XML and EDI. Built to support each partner having their own unique
view of the trading data reflecting the way they do business, Syncra`s
"many-to-many" data model enables deployments in scale to the largest
private and public trading partner communities. In addition, an open
vendor-neutral approach allows Syncra customers and their trading partners
to leverage their existing investments in forecasting, planning and
intra-enterprise applications such as Manugistics, i2 Technologies, SAP,
Retek, Oracle and others.
AMR Research analysts Bob Ferrari and Janet Suleski report, "This revised
product suite is well timed to take advantage of the current end-user
interest in reducing supply chain costs through CPFR as well as other
collaborative programs, such as Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI)," in their
co-authored Alert on Retail titled, "Syncra Systems is About to Move Beyond
CPFR," released on September 5, 2001. "AMR Research believes Syncra is on
the right track to broaden its footprint to take advantage of renewed
interest in supply-chain wide collaboration. Syncra also has the opportunity
to reach beyond its traditional industry verticals with its newest
offering."
Syncra Version 3.0 is available for in-house purchase and deployment on a
perpetual license basis or through Syncra`s SyncUp hosting service. A
variety of packaged deployment options are available. For more information
