Manufacturers’ fulfillment vendors have retailers knocking on their doors

E-commerce is opening up the world of retailing for fulfillment vendors who until now have specialized in other areas. Edison, NJ-based Dotcom Distribution, which ships manufactured goods to retailers, is now starting to get interest from web-based retailers, Bill Follett, CEO, tells internetretailer.com. "Companies are realizing that e-commerce is a real market but not the only market,” he says. “So they’re looking for fulfillment solutions that satisfy a broad base of requirements."

He notes that multiple channel fulfillment is now becoming a one-stop shopping demand. "We had to realize that companies were looking for one solution, not several different ones,” he says. “So we built our facility to handle everything."

To that end, the company features 90-minute click-to-ship; web site development and integration; shopping cart and web hosting; order processing and management; real-time, web-based management reporting; retail replenishment; B2B; direct response and B2C services.

Follett says Dotcom Distribution is not yet marketing to retailers but word is getting around. Currently, it works with undisclosed retailers who use its facility to ship in the New Jersey area and an undisclosed company that sells good directly to schools. "The world is changing and business is opening up," he says.
