November online spending grew 10% over year earlier, says NetRatings
November online spending grew 10% over November last year, Nielsen/NetRatings, an Internet audience measurement service, and Harris Interactive, a market research and consulting firm, reported today in their eCommercePulse survey. The 10% growth over the same month a year earlier is the lowest experienced yet this year in the eCommercePulse survey.
Retail spending—not counting travel—grew 8% year over year, eCommercePulse reports. Retail spending totaled $2.75 billion in November vs. $2.55 billion in November 2000.
Total spending in November hit $5.3 billion, the survey reports. November spending was 14% higher than October. November’s online spending was the highest since August’s $5.6 billion.
ECommercePulse data comes from an online survey of 34,000 web users.
