Christian sheet music downloads up 125% at Musicnotes

Downloads of Christian sheet music at Musicnotes.com have more than doubled in recent months, surprising company executives.

In July Musicnotes Inc. sold a record 12,500 Christian downloads, an increase of 125% over July 2005. Most of Musicnotes downloads sell in the $4 to $6 price range.

“July Christian sales really surprised us,” says Tim Reiland, chairman and CFO. “This is actually our slowest time of the year, so we’re looking forward to the fall and winter months.”

Musicnotes, No. 487 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, offers an online catalog of nearly 50,000 digital sheet music titles, built on content agreements with music businesses including BMG, Sony and EMI. The pure-play hit $4.3 million in sales in 2005, a 30% lift over $3.3 million the previous year.
