New company offers fraud protection to online retailers

Technology company Keynetics Inc. has launched a new subsidiary called Kount to offer fraud protection services to online retailers. Boise, ID-based Keynetics owns several technology companies including Clickbank, which markets digital content through an affiliate network.

Since putting Kount’s technology to work, Clickbank has reduced fraud losses by more than 30%, the company says.

Taking the reins at both Keynetics and Kount as CEO is Brad Wiskirchen. An attorney, he was previously a partner at the Holland and Hart LLP law firm.

Steven Rouse has been named chief operating officer at both Keynetics and Kount. He previously headed up Clickbank and helped develop the Kount fraud-control system. Before that, he worked at payment processor First Data Corp., where he was responsible for an online payment gateway and risk control service for high-volume, high-risk merchants.

David Walker, vice president of sales at Keynetics, will help introduce the hosted Kount anti-fraud service. Prior to joining Keynetics, he spent 15 years at First Data’s Telecheck unit.
