Transora and CABASnet Sign Agreement to Expand Data Synchronization Capability in Eight Latin American Markets

Interconnect will facilitate global data synchronization between worlds largest manufacturers and retailers in Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Peru

Sao Paulo, Brazil and Bogotá, Colombia - December 8, 2003 - In a continuing effort to expand the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN), Transora the leading provider of data synchronization solutions to the retail and consumer packaged goods industries and CABASnet, formed by the Instituto Colombiano de Codificación y Automatización Comercial(IAC) Colombia and local EAN organizations in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Peru to provide an electronic catalogue of products, have announced an agreement to develop an EAN/UCC standards-based Interconnection to connect the Transora Data Synchronization Network (TDSN) to the CABASnet Electronic Catalogue and Data Synchronization solution.

With this development effort, manufacturers utilizing Transora as their entry point into the Global Data Synchronization Network will be able to publish data to leading retailers in the eight Latin American markets covered by CABASnet. The participating EAN organizations share the same principles and offer this value added service to a community of more than 15000 member companies. This will allow data synchronization between these manufacturers and retailers such as Almacenes Exito, Procter & Gamble, La Fragua, Unilever, Gillette, Carulla, Supermercado Selectos, Corporacion Automercado, Kraft and Nestle.

"This interconnectivity represents another important milestone in the expansion of the Transora Data Synchronization Network," said Ken Fleming, President and COO of Transora. "The retailers synchronizing through CABASnet represent many of the key trading partners that our global customers must synchronize data with. This standards-based solution will facilitate this exchange and expand Transora`s global footprint into an additional eight key markets."

One of the leading manufacturers participating in this initiative is Procter & Gamble. "Transora is our global data synchronization provider and they continually demonstrate their ability to deploy working interconnect and interoperability programs with data pool providers throughout the world," said José Ignacio Sordo of Procter & Gamble. "The CABASnet initiative is a key component of our data synchronization strategy and will facilitate broader data synchronization utilization in Latin America. This will further advance our adoption plans in countries where reliable data pool services become compatible with global solutions."

The first release of the Transora and CABASnet interconnect is scheduled for December 19, 2003. Transora and CABASnet will also continue to work in tandem to expand and incorporate future standards-based data synchronization in support of evolving standards for the Latin American market.

About Cabasnet
CABASnet is the electronic catalogue of products that IAC Colombia, EAN Costa Rica, EAN El Salvador, EAN Guatemala, EAN Honduras, EAN Nicaragua, EAN Panama and EAN Peru has developed for the benefit of centralization and synchronization of the information that clients and suppliers use on a daily basis.

Clients, suppliers, distributors and retailers currently benefit from having a tool at their disposal that facilitates commercial operations between business partners, at both the local and international levels. This is already a reality for eight Latin American countries and it is estimated that CABASnet will be operating in four more countries by the end of 2004.

CABASnet is the first electronic catalogue to be shared by various Latin American countries and by means of which small, medium and large companies can centralize their information and administration, thus simplifying their distribution and maintenance.
