Zazzle adds GoodStorm community to focus on social issues

Zazzle.com Inc. has acquired GoodStorm, a maker and marketer of customized T-shirts, posters and other products designed to help raise funds and social awareness. GoodStorm becomes a Zazzle community focusing on social causes and non-profit organizations.

The acquisition complements Zazzle’s Giving Program and builds on its commitment to important issues, the company says. It positions Zazzle as a potential platform for charities, social causes and individuals to raise money and awareness by spreading their message through the creation of unique products.

Under terms of the deal, the GoodStorm brand will be integrated into Zazzle’s on-demand retail platform, which offers customized products shipped within 24 hours. GoodStorm clients include Amnesty International and the Craigslist Foundation. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

GoodStorm founder Yobie Benjamin becomes senior vice president of business development and president of the new Zazzle community, and GoodStorm co-founder Andy Rappaport becomes an advisor to the Zazzle board. “Zazzle is truly a pioneer in the on-demand retail space. Their knowledge, expertise, and depth of manufacturing and software technology innovation are years ahead of the competition,” Benjamin says.

“The GoodStorm acquisition enables Zazzle to launch a true vertical dedicated to social causes and non-profit organizations. Their relationships and client roster brings an additional value-add to Zazzle’s already impressive line-up of non-profit partners including the Humane Society, March of Dimes, Save the Children and others,” says James Heckman, chief strategy officer at Zazzle, No. 214 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
