Multimedia Live`s New Site for the Largest Direct-to-Consumer Winery in the US Offers Top-Notch Customer Experience and Online Ordering of Customized Bottle Labels
Petaluma, CA -- January 16, 2002 -- Multimedia Live (MML) (http://www.mmlive.com), the leading developer of e-commerce technology and services for Intelligent Selling™ on the Web, announced today that it has created and launched a new e-commerce website for Windsor Vineyards (http://www.windsorvineyards.com). The site runs on MML`s MarketLive™ Intelligent Selling System™, the e-commerce application created specifically for catalogers, retailers, and direct marketers selling their goods and services on the Web. Multimedia Live also created the site design and architecture. In addition to direct purchasing of quality wines online, customized bottle labels can be ordered online through an easy user interface.
Windsor Vineyards has been America`s #1 Award-Winning Winery for three years running (1998, 1999, and 2000), and is also the oldest and largest direct-to-the-consumer winery in the United States. A signature Windsor Vineyards service is their customized bottle labels, a feature that makes Windsor Vineyards a leading provider of quality wines for corporate gift giving, weddings, and other special events. One of the driving forces behind the creation of this new site was the need for a simple, fast, and efficient system for taking customization orders online.
The flexibility of the MarketLive product and its capacity for easy integration with other systems makes this new site capable of taking orders online for customized bottle labels. MarketLive is 100% Java™-based and infinitely expandable, which made it easy for Multimedia Live programmers to add the custom programming for taking these orders online. Once a customer selects the desired item, a special page opens with an online form where the customer enters the desired message. Customers can choose from forty pre-written greetings from a drop-down menu, or write one of their own. The website allows customers to preview labels online, select from regular or script fonts, and add extra lines of text. The site automatically calculates charges for extra text when the order is placed. Because some states prohibit the shipment of wine directly to consumers, a compliance engine built into the MarketLive application checks each order, and recommends non-alcoholic alternatives if the recipient resides in a state with these restrictions.
To support online sales of corporate gifts, to help customers choose the right wine, and to aid in the assembly of customized gift selections, the website offers an online form providing access to a Personal Wine Consultant. The customer types in the request and the wine consultant contacts the customer via phone or email, adding a very personal touch to the customer service equation.
MML designed the user interface for the site, incorporating Intelligent Selling™ techniques throughout, and creating a shopping environment that is enjoyable to use, easy to navigate, and provides all the tools necessary for a successful online wine-shopping excursion. The site also ties in with the Windsor Vineyards catalog channel through the catalog quick-shop feature and through the use of images and page layout that reflect the style of their popular catalogs.
"The Intelligent Selling approach is exactly what webstores like Windsor Vineyards need to remain competitive online," said Ken Burke, Multimedia Live President and CEO. "Intelligent Selling maximizes sales by optimizing all selling opportunities, creating a stellar user experience, and enabling rapid analysis and deployment of changes to the site. Intelligent Selling encompasses all design elements on a website, and also the features and performance intrinsic to the MarketLive Intelligent Selling System."
