Viewlocity Acquires Electron Economy
Widens Gap Between It And Other Supply Chain Event Management Vendors
ATLANTA--Sept. 26, 2001--Today, Viewlocity announced that it has acquired Supply Chain Event Management (SCEM) vendor Electron Economy, of Cupertino, California, in an all-stock transaction.
Key components of Electron Economy`s adaptive workflow technology will be incorporated into Viewlocity`s TradeSync(TM) product suite. Viewlocity also receives a very strong balance sheet, including approximately $10M in cash.
Jeffrey Simpson, CEO of Viewlocity, sees a lot of synergy in the combination: "Electron Economy`s technology complements Viewlocity`s existing offerings, which are essential for making large investments in ERP, Supply Chain, and CRM systems payoff. It also represents a huge vote of confidence in Viewlocity by Softbank, Electron Economy`s lead investor."
According to Scott Hausman, Viewlocity`s Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, the acquisition is a major step in the company`s effort to lead the penetration of the burgeoning SCEM market. "The intellectual property, customer opportunities and investors we are gaining will widen the gap between Viewlocity and vendors that claim to have SCEM capabilities," said Hausman. "This acquisition, combined with other recent steps, gives us a two-year lead over most of the competition in building these products.
