Golfsmith International serves tennis players with new catalog
In its ongoing effort to expand by courting tennis players, Golfsmith International Holdings has launched its first tennis catalog, Center Court. The launch of Center Court corresponds with the re-launch of the Golfsmith Golf & Tennis web site, Tennis.Golfsmith.com.
In its ongoing effort to expand by courting tennis players, Golfsmith International Holdings Inc. has launched its first tennis catalog, Center Court. The launch of Center Court corresponds with the re-launch of the Golfsmith Golf & Tennis web site, Tennis.Golfsmith.com, and the continued expansion of the company’s golf and tennis stores across the country.
The catalog showcases fashion apparel, footwear and accessories, and the newest technologies in tennis racquets. Famed athletes featured in the first edition of the catalog include Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Amelie Mauresmo and Lindsay Davenport.
“The catalog complements our tennis web site and 41 tennis departments in our stores, making it easier for tennis players to shop,” says Jim Thompson, president and CEO of Golfsmith Golf & Tennis.
Since fall 2004, Golfsmith has increased the number of golf and tennis stores it operates from six to 41. The company plans to continue rolling out tennis stores as part of its retail growth plans.
Golfsmith International Holdings, No. 211 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, drove sales 33% to $28.4 million in 2005 compared with $21.4 million the previous year, according to Internet Retailer estimates.
