Hitwise names Heather Dougherty director of research
Veteran industry analyst Heather Dougherty has been appointed director of research at online competitive intelligence research firm Hitwise. Dougherty brings more than 10 years of experience in analyzing online retail to her new position.
“Heather is a well known and respected figure within the online industry,” says Bill Tancer, general manager of global research at Hitwise. “Her retail experience, coupled with a solid understanding of the online market, is a tremendous asset for our business.”
Previously, Dougherty was with Nielsen Online where she was senior retail analyst responsible for strategic analysis on the retail industry, as well as for publishing research projects. Earlier in her career, she was with Jupiter Research for four years, where she covered online retail and commerce, including marketing and promotions, merchandising and personalization.
In her new role, Dougherty also will be a contributor to Hitwise’s research blog.
