Amazon Customer Activity Remains Strong Through Downturn
Boston - October 11, 2001 - Compete Inc., an advisory services firm that
provides sophisticated customer and competitive intelligence, is predicting
that Amazon.com sales for the 3rd quarter will top $700 million, handily
beating Wall Street consensus of $650 million. Compete works with leading
companies to provide tangible data-driven business recommendations that
drive online and offline sales and profits.
According to Compete`s analysis, visits to Amazon during the 3rd quarter
increased by 13 million over the number of visits during 2nd quarter. Both
visits and conversion rates are up over Q2 levels.
"Our detailed analysis shows that Amazon suffered only a week of depressed
activity as a result of the terrorist attacks in New York and Virginia,"
said Matt Work, Chief Strategy Officer for Compete. "Traffic and buying
activity on Amazon has rebounded since September 11 and even slightly
exceeds pre-attack levels."
