EC Fraud Prevention Network elects a new chair
The Worldwide E-Commerce Fraud Prevention Network, a consortium of online retailers and security vendors, has elected Julie Fergerson as chair for 2002. Fergerson is co-founder and vice president of emerging technology at ClearCommerce Corp., a provider of e-commerce payment processing and risk management software and services. In addition to Fergerson, the organization’s board includes representatives of American Express, Expedia.com, First Data Corp., Barnes&Noble.com and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
The Fraud Prevention Network also reports that its membership has grown from 375 charter members a year ago to 2,000 members today.
The Fraud Prevention Network expects this year to focus on increasing awareness of online fraud, building membership, and strengthening educational resources for merchants. One of the group’s key strategies will be to share fraud prevention information and best practices with merchants of all sizes in order to improve web security and decrease the costs associated with fraud.
