Best Buy hires exec to build its international e-commerce platform

Best Buy Co. Inc. has hired Neville Roberts to fill the new position of chief information officer of Best Buy International. His first task will be to build an e-commerce platform to support all overseas web and I.T. initiatives.

In his new role, Roberts will report to Robert Willett, chief executive officer of Best Buy International and the parent company’s chief information officer.

Roberts joins Best Buy, No. 11 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, from Accenture Ltd. where he most recently was a senior partner in Accenture’s global retail practice and worked with clients such as Wal-Mart International, WHSmith, Argos and Tesco.

His assignments included working on supply chain, multi-channel, e-commerce delivery, technology delivery, customer relationship management and outsourcing initiatives.

At Best Buy International Roberts will develop standardized systems and processes as Best Buy moves into new global markets, the company says. One of his primary jobs will be to create an e-commerce platform as part of a multi-channel strategy to support Best Buy’s international growth, the company says.

Roberts also will work closely with Best Buy’s enterprise information systems unit on the creation and implementation of enterprise-wide technology initiatives, says Best Buy.
