Cultivate Systems acquires competing e-commerce provider to wineries

Cultivate Systems has acquired the Wine Business Engine, a competing e-commerce technology provider to the smaller, premium wine producers often referred to as “artisan” wineries.

"Since our inception ten years ago, we have seen a lot of companies try and tackle the unique needs of artisan wineries," says Cultivate Systems CEO Eric Binau. "The Wine Business Engine has provided an integrated systems backbone to wineries who execute a very high volume of direct-to-consumer sales, handling traffic on their web sites and in their tasting rooms. With this acquisition, we are thrilled to be able to fold a few key technology features into our own platform and to offer our services to well-matched wineries."

Napa, CA-based Cultivate Systems purchased the Wine Business Engine from Six88 Solutions of Boulder, CO. The purchase price was not disclosed. Six88 will focus on its ShipCompliant product that helps wineries comply with state laws regulating wine shipments.
