Former President and CEO of Gartner Joins KANA Board of Directors

MENLO PARK, Calif. - December 14, 2005 - KANA Software, Inc. (Pinksheets: KANA.PK), a leading provider of Service Resolution Management (SRM) solutions, today announced that it has added industry veteran and former CEO of Gartner, William T. Clifford to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Clifford is a seasoned executive with more than 35 years experience in the leadership and growth of major enterprise companies. In his career at Gartner, he led a successful financial restructuring and globalization effort, spearheaded a transition into consulting services and created its first effective Internet strategy, serving in the role first as COO and then moving into the President and CEO role. Prior to Gartner, Mr. Clifford was president of two operating divisions and substantially grew revenues and customer retention levels at Automatic Data Processing (ADP), Inc., where he also served as Corporate Vice President of Information Systems Development overseeing a staff of 700 I.T. professionals and a budget of $400 million.

“Bill brings to KANA an invaluable background in both the growth and leadership of enterprise companies in the software space,” said Michael Fields, CEO of KANA. "We are excited to add his extensive experience and skills as a leader, advisor and manager to KANA’s Board of Directors as we look toward a successful 2006.”

Prior to Gartner and ADP, Mr. Clifford held top positions at Applied Data Research, one of the largest companies in the independent software industry, where he directed all worldwide operations as Chief Operating Officer. He also spent several years at Arthur Young & Company and TSI International, where he held director positions. Mr. Clifford received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Connecticut.

"The customer service software industry has reached a critical point and KANA is in a unique position to capitalize on its growth and emerge as a leader in innovation,” said Mr. Clifford. “I am thrilled to work with an organization that is clearly focused and dedicated to its customers."
