Why Toys 'R' Us Is Still Looking For An E-Commerce Czar

The hunt for a chief executive at toysrus.com continues. On July 2, Paramus, N.J.-based Toys 'R' Us announced that Bob Moog, the founder and chief executive officer of University Games, would not be accepting the job as the toy chain's top Internet retailing manager.
Instead, Moog will remain at University Games, a board games development company. Toys 'R' Us isn't saying why Moog turned down the job, but e-commerce analysts speculate that Moog may have balked at moving to a bigger company for a variety of reasons.
"Usually Internet start-ups don't have a difficult time getting a CEO," says Seema Williams, an e-commerce analyst with Cambridge-Mass.-based Forrester Research. "There is a huge difference between running a relatively small company and taking the helm of a huge online company. Toysrus.com brings with it a unique set of challenges."
Toys 'R' Us expects to name a replacement for Moog in a few weeks.
