Former Oracle video expert joins VitalStream as CTO
Patrick Ritto, who launched several releases of video technology at Oracle Corp., has been named CTO of digital content delivery company VitalStream Holdings Inc.
Ritto, a 20-year veteran of work in streaming media, networking and storage technology, has been charged with expanding VitalStream’s technology platform to meet expanding demand for digital content delivery, says CEO Jack Waterman. Ritto will oversee VitalStream’s worldwide product development and technical operations.
Ritto joins VitalStream from Overland Storage Inc., where he served as director of software engineering for the San Diego-based provider of data storage protection technology. Prior to Overland Storage, Ritto served in several senior engineering management positions at Oracle, where he co-founded Oracle’s automatic storage management development team for the company’s server technologies division.
Also while at Oracle, Ritto directed the engineering team in its interactive television division in both the U.S. and the U.K. and launched several versions of Oracle Video products. Oracle’s video technology includes its Oracle Video Server and Oracle Video Stream video distribution tools.
