Newgistics to launch "ReturnValet" returns service with Lillian Vernon catalog


Cataloger Lillian Vernon Corp. is offering a returns service by which customers and gift recipients can return merchandise to 100 neighborhood locations in Dallas/Fort Worth starting Dec. 26. Lillian Vernon is offering the service through logistics provider Newgistics Inc.'s ReturnValet, a fully integrated returns management system for Web and catalog shoppers and retailers. Customers will receive credit as soon as 24 hours after the return and need not pack the merchandise for shipping. Customers simply bring their merchandise and proof of purchase or shipping invoice to the return center. In addition to providing service to the retailer's customers, ReturnValet helps retailers complete the returns process by consolidating and shipping packages to a centralized processing center that sends returns back in bulk. The merchandise can be restocked, shipped to a retail outlet, liquidated or disposed of, as specified by the retailer. Newgistics is partnering with USF Processors, a logistics subsidiary of USFreightways Corp., and R.R. Donnelley Logistics. The three companies together offer 4,000 drop-off points in the U.S.
