Shopping Site Blends Human & Cyber Service

Shop At Home Inc. has launched collectibles.com using BroadVision Inc.'s One-To-One Retail Commerce application and associated business manager tools for content publishing and personalization. Collectibles.com is Shop At Home's online shopping community for selling brand-named products in a variety of categories, including coins, sports memorabilia, ceramics and figurines.

The new site will leverage Shop At Home's cable and satellite network reach of more than 56 million homes. BroadVision was selected by Shop At Home, it says, mainly for its ability to support high volumes of personalized transactions. Collectibles.com customers will benefit from the blending of an existing human customer service infrastructure with the BroadVision's Internet technologies, says Dr. Pehong Chen, president and CEO of BroadVision, Redwood City, Calif.

The launch of collectibles.com is part of a major initiative for Shop At Home to fully integrate all of its systems into one "customer-centric" online retail site. The One-To-One system has been integrated with LivePerson's customer service technologies, HighTouch customer relationship management software and their new enterprise systems, Oracle database, Oracle HR, Oracle Purchasing and Oracle Financials.

The site will offer a set of features enabled by BroadVision that includes the Dyamic Shopping Cart, which stays onscreen while the customer navigates through the site; a personalized home page; online call centers with real-time customer service; 360-degree and zoom-in, zoom-out visuals on certain products; and product-driven video presentations.

Planned enhancements include advanced search engines, live audio and video chats, enhanced video streaming, business-to-consumer auction capabilities, a gift registry and statistical modeling for purchases and offerings to the consumer.
