Overstock.com president Jason Lindsey retires—again
Jason Lindsey, who co-founded online discount retailer Overstock.com in 1999 with Patrick Byrne, has resigned as president and chief operating officer and given up his seat on the company board. He will continue to work on special projects on a part-time basis.
Lindsey had resigned as president of Overstock.com in August 2003, but returned in an executive role in April 2006.
"Jason co-founded the company and helped build it before retiring the first time,” Byrne says. “When I screwed it up a couple years ago, he came out of retirement and has played a decisive role getting it back on track.
"He`s done a superb job. Now that it is back in a solid trailing twelve month cash-flow-positive position, he wishes to return to our previous arrangement. While Jason won`t be as involved in the day-to-day operations of the company, he will still oversee special projects in a part-time capacity."
"I`m extremely gratified by the progress Overstock has made over the past two years," Lindsey says. "But I`m ready to take a less active role in order to spend time on some outside ventures."
Overstock.com, which offers closeout merchandise at discount prices, is No. 25 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide.
