Sales at Avenue.com, a retailer specializing in plus-size women’s wear, rose 41% year-over-year for the third quarter ended Oct. 28, as total sales rose 6% to $104.2 million and comp store sales rose 6% at parent United Retail Group Inc., the company said.
Net income for Q3 fell 42% to $1.1 million from $1.9 million, due primarily to an increase in the company’s stock price that added $700,000 to expenses related to compensation and stock appreciation rights, says vice chairman and chief administrative officer George R. Remeta. United Retail Group is No. 315 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites.
For the nine months ended Oct. 28, sales at Avenue.com rose 52% year-over-year, as total sales rose 5% to $334.6 million from $319.3 million, the company says. Net income for the 9-month period rose 16% to $8 million from $6.9 million a year ago.
In addition to Avenue.com, United Retail Group operates 491 Avenue retail stores.
