Fears Still Stop Some from Online Shopping
Online shopping may have been big over the holidays, but many people still fear their credit card numbers could be stolen from a Web site. In the wake of hundreds of thousands of card numbers being stolen from online retailer CD Universe, New York-based Cyber Dialogue has released a study saying that 60% of online adults feel that there credit card number may be stolen if used online. Even some 40% of adults who have ordered online think the card numbers may be stolen. Online shopping has increased over the past three years, but 25% of online adults still do not shop online because of security fears. The study also says that sites that guarantee security are more likely to get return business.
