CircuitCity.com posts sharpest July traffic gain among electronics sites


CircuitCity.com had the largest increase in traffic among the top10 multi-category computers and consumer electronics sites in July, with visits rising 29% to 8.4 million from 6.5 million a year earlier, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Sony Electronics experienced the sharpest loss, with visits dropping 30% to 2.3 million from 3.3 million.

EBay Computers had the second largest increase in traffic, with visits rising 16% to 6.4 million from 5.5 million; followed by eBay Electronics, up 16% to 9.2 million from 7.9 million; BestBuy.com, up 16% to 11.9 million from 10.3 million; Newegg.com, up 14% to 2.4 million from 2.1 million; TigerDirect.com, up 6% to 3.3 million from 3.1 million; and CompUSA.com, up 4% to 2.4 million from 2.3 million.

In addition to Sony Electronics, traffic dropped at two other sites: OSTG, where visits fell 12% to 3 million from 3.4 million; and Sony, where visits dropped 4% to 2.6 million from 2.7 million.

The top site in number of visits was BestBuy.com, followed by eBay Electronics, CircuitCity.com, eBay Computers, TigerDirect.com, OSTG, Sony, CompUSA.com, Newegg.com, and Sony Electronics.

In the average length of time per visit, Newegg.com led with 44 minutes, 50 seconds; followed by CDW, 20 minutes, 20 seconds; TigerDirect.com, 18 minutes, 59 seconds; Sony Electronics, 15 minutes, 44 seconds; MySony, 14 minutes, 50 seconds; Crutchfield.com, 14 minutes, 25 seconds; eBay Electronics, 14 minutes, 9 seconds; OSTG, 12 minutes, 59 seconds; CompUSA.com, 11 minutes, 42 seconds; and CircuitCity.com, 11 minutes, 24 seconds.

Also for July, United Online Inc. led all retail goods and services advertisers in the number of online ad impressions, according to Nielsen/NetRatings’ AdRelevance report. The top advertisers and their number of online ad impressions in millions:
