In the latest example of post-holiday restructuring, online sportswear merchant Boo.com has laid off 70 employees. The layoffs come just three months after Boo.com's international launch.
Boo.com North American president Jay Herrati called the dismissals a normal "headcount reduction." Most of the cuts were made in the editorial and customer relations departments of its New York and European offices, he adds.
The layoffs aren't the first sign of trouble for heavily funded, heavily prmoted site. The site's launch, originally slated for the summer of 1999, was pushed back to November, some six months after a massive marketing effort that included TV spots and ads in Vanity Fair magazine.
