Sales at Winetasting.com and its affiliate sites will reach $12 million this year, the company reported today. Winetasting.com is a winery cooperative that links consumers with wineries. The sales figure includes revenues generated by Winetasting.com's 50 winery partners' web sites and through the Winetasting.com hub web site, plus revenues from the company's Ambrosia catalogue and distribution services division. Winetasting.com receives a commission on sales at affiliate sites.
Traditionally, December retail sales are the highest of the year, followed by a dip. But Lesley Berglund, president and CEO, reports that Winetasting.com's January sales remained strong and that February sales more than tripled December's. Reaching this level of sales volume is a particularly notable achievement, she says, "because we are currently focusing on profitability more than sales in 2001."
