Target Aims For E-Commerce Bull's Eye
Target Corp. plans to form a new business unit called Target Direct to oversee e-retailing and direct marketing. The business unites the current e-commerce team at the company with its Rivertown Trading direct marketing unit.
Target named Dale Nitschke president of Target Direct. He will report to Jerry Storch, president of credit and new businesses at Target Corp.
"The internet and e-commerce are a vital part of Target Corp., and this new organization will help us leverage the power of all our store brands and catalogs," says Storch. "We are committed to being a leader in e-commerce and we are continuing to increase our investment in this area. Target Direct will support all of our stores--Target, Mervyn's California, Dayton's, Marshall Field's and Hudson's--and our Wireless, Signals and Seasons catalog businesses."
Nitschke joins the e-commerce effort from Dayton's, Marshall Field's and Hudson's, where most recently he was senior vice president and general merchandise manager. He joined the company in 1985 as a management trainee.
