Today's BlueLight Special: Free Internet Access
BlueLight.com today will begin distributing 2 million free Internet access CD-ROMs at more than 1,400 Kmart stores nationwide. Launched in December, BlueLight.com is a stand-alone, e-commerce company based in San Francisco that was formed by Kmart Corp., Softbank Venture Capital and its affiliated investors.
After installing the BlueLight.com Internet service software onto their home computers, consumers will be greeted by a co-branded BlueLight.com/ My Yahoo! start page that includes personalized information and featured shopping specials from BlueLight.com.
"Free Internet services such as those available through BlueLight.com will help narrow the gap between those who have access to the array of information and services found online and those who do not," says Mark H. Goldstein, CEO of BlueLight.com.
This summer, BlueLight.com plans to launch an expanded shopping portal. When fully functional, the company says, consumers will be able to shop for home electronics, housewares, toys, clothing and Kmart's Martha Stewart Everyday line of products.
BlueLight.com's Internet service is provided by Spinway.com Consumers can also download the same software featured on the free CDs from BlueLight.com.
