Google again tops search engine market share
In February Google Sites captured 48.1% of the U.S. search market, gaining 0.6 share points from the previous month. Yahoo Sites maintained its second place ranking with 28.1% of searches followed by Microsoft Sites (10.5%), Ask Network (5%) and Time Warner Network (4.9%), according to the monthly qSearch analysis of activity across competitive search engines by comScore Networks Inc., a research firm specializing in consumer behavior.
Other qSearch findings include:
- Americans conducted 6.9 billion searches online in February, up 1% vs. January and 19% vs. February 2006.
- Google Sites led the pack with 3.3 billion search queries performed, followed by Yahoo Sites (2 billion), MSN-Microsoft (730 million), Ask Network (348 million) and Time Warner Network (338 million).
