Online Beauty Gets Ugly


In a bid to set itself apart from the crowded field of online beauty retailers, Beautymerchant.com has pledged to offer the lowest prices on the Internet. The company says it will beat by 5% any posted price by a competing site on any beauty product, cosmetic or fragrance it sells.The Web merchant also unveiled a new promotion that will allow customers to shop for free on their birthday.

     "This type of aggressive promotion is what Beautymerchant.com is all about," says Edward A. Roth, CEO of BeautyMerchant.com.

     Beautymerchant.com says it plans to launch a TV advertising campaign later this year.
