Microsoft sites record the most global traffic in June, comScore says

Microsoft sites had the most global traffic during June, with about 500 million global visitors, followed by Yahoo sites (481 million) and Google sites (454 million visitors). according to comScore World Metrix.

EBay ranked fourth, with 257 million visitors, while Amazon came in sixth with 129 million visitors and Apple Computer Inc. ranked tenth with 92 million visitors.

“The ‘big three’ properties continue to aggregate the largest worldwide audiences, dominating the rankings,” says Bob Ivins, managing director for comScore Europe. “MSN, Yahoo and Google, ranked as the top three respectively, each drawing more than 450 million visitors in June, approximately 200 million more than the next closest property.”

Ivins noted, however, that “several upstarts” landed in the top 15, including Wikipedia sites (No. 8, with 128 million visitors) and MySpace.com (No. 15, with 66 million visitors).

About 713 million people globally, ages 15 and older, used the web during June, according to comScore. Users from the U.S. accounted for 153 million—about 21% of worldwide users. China accounted for 78 million, or 11%, and Japan for 53 million, or 7%, comScore said.
