An increase in visits to the top 10 home and garden sites in August
Eight of the top 10 home and garden sites experienced an increase in visits in August, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Tide.com led the group with a 155% increase in traffic to 1.9 million from 745,000 a year earlier.
DIY Network recorded the second largest increase, with visits rising 63% to 2.66 million from 1.63 million; followed by The Home Depot, up 35% to 8.1 million from 6 million; Lowe’s, up 24% to 6.25 million from 5.04 million; Pottery Barn, up 23% to 2.7 million from 2.2 million; Linen’s ‘n Things, up 23% to 1.77 million from 1.44 million; HGTV-Home Shopping Network, up 11% to 3.3 million from 3 million; and Home & Garden Television, up 10% to 4.3 million from 3.9 million.
EBay Home was the only site experiencing a decline in growth, with visits dropping 19% to 8.38 million from 10.3 million.
EBay Home recorded the most visits, followed by The Home Depot, Lowe’s, HGTV-Home & Garden Television, Home Shopping Network, Pottery Barn, DIY Network, Tide, eBay Crafts (1.8 million), and Linens n’ Things.
In the top 10 home and garden sites ranked by time per visit, Collections Etc. led with 27 minutes, 46 seconds; followed by ltdcommodities.com, 27 minutes, 7 seconds; Home Shopping Network, 17 minutes, 59 seconds; Lakeside.com, 15 minutes, 33 seconds; decoratetoday.com, 11 minutes, 43 seconds; Home Decorators Collection, 11 minutes, 21 seconds; BrylaneHome, 10 minutes, 57 seconds; Pottery Barn, 10 minutes, 23 seconds; joann.com, 10 minutes, 16 seconds; and Lowe’s, 8 minutes, 58 seconds.
Also in August, the Sears, Roebuck and Co. Craftsman had the most online ad impressions in the consumer goods home and garden industry, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance report: The leading brands in the report and their number of impressions (in millions) are:
