Linens ‘n Things looking for a buyer

Home furnishings retailer Linens ‘n Things Inc. is considering a possible sale of the company, it said today.

Linens ‘n Things, which operates on the web at LNT.com, ranks ranks No. 101 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites with $59.76 million in 2004 sales.

Linens ‘n Things said it has retained Credit Suisse First Boston LLC as its financial advisor to explore strategic alternatives, including a possible sale of the company.

For the first half ended July 2, the company reported a net loss of $10 million on net sales of $1.14 billion, compared to a year-ago net loss of $1 million on net sales of $1.13 billion. Comp store sales for the first half of this year fell 6.1%. The company didn’t break out web sales.
