ShoeBuy gets ready to launch a sister e-commerce site
After exploring the online bags space for almost two years with a bags category at its main web site, ShoeBuy.com will soon create a separate e-commerce site for bags and luggage, says CEO and co-founder Scott Savitz.
ShoeBuy, No. 120 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, has been testing the new site, BagsBuy.com, for several weeks and will formally introduce the web store within 30 days, Savitz says.
Today the company sells handbags, luggage and related items on ShoeBuy.com, but Savitz says that sales are strong enough to warrant a separate web store. BagsBuy.com will carry about 5,000 SKUs when it opens, he says.
“This will be a separate, independent entity,” Savitz says.
Along with the launch of a new web store, another top e-commerce initiative has been upgrading site search at ShoeBuy. The site has been updated and now shoppers can search for merchandise by departments, brands, collections, keywords and other advanced combinations. “There are six ways customers can find their shoes of choice in less than one minute,” Savitz says.
