FitMe Partners With Hamamatsu To Speed Mass Customization New Software Development Platform For Whole Body Scanners

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--Jan. 15, 2002--FitMe, a developer of mass customization solutions, and Hamamatsu, a manufacturer of advanced optical sensors, today introduced a software platform for the development of commercial applications using Hamamatsu whole body scanners. Developed by FitMe, the platform will stimulate the use of whole body scanners for mass customization in industries such as apparel and fitness.

By supplying a software development platform with their scanners, Hamamatsu has initiated a new generation of body scanning technology. The availability of the powerful, easy-to-use development platform will enable rapid deployment of the kinds of software applications that are essential to mass customization.

"Readily available software is critical to expand the market for body scanners," said FitMe CEO Ram Srinivasan. "Our software will help speed mass customization in industries as diverse as apparel, automobiles and fitness. The industries will benefit from better efficiencies and enhanced customer appeal."

Hamamatsu, an industry pioneer with more than 15 years of expertise in body scanning technology, has developed an advanced line of whole body scanners that accurately capture a 3-dimensional view of the human body within seconds.

The FitMe software facilitates development of web-enabled applications in a unified and efficient manner. A convenient Application Programmers Interface (API) allows developers to focus on new applications, eliminating the need to understand database design to deal with hardware issues such as scanner upgrades. A simple automated application allows users to scan themselves at scanner kiosks.
