First-half J. Crew e-commerce sales rocket up 56%
J. Crew Group Inc. turned in a strong e-commerce performance for the first half of 2005. For the period January through June, J.Crew, No. 65 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, generated e-commerce sales of $74.7 million, an increase of 56% from Internet sales of $47.9 million for the same period in 2004.
For the first six months of the year, the web represented 17% of all sales, which totaled $439.9 million. In comparison, J. Crew’s 2004 first-half web sales were 14% of the total based on overall sales of $334.2 million.
To grow its web operations J. Crew Group Inc. is also rolling out a new e-commerce site, JCrewFactory.com, for online discount shoppers by the end of the year. Each year J. Crew’s web site attracts about 48 million visits.
