For 2005, Home Décor Products expects web sales to increase by 60%

Home Décor Products is on track to grow its 2005 web sales by about 60% to between $75 million and $80 million, says president and CEO Michael Golden. The company reported e-commerce sales of $50 million in 2004 and $27.2 million in 2003.

Sales are up because a shared e-commerce program is helping Home Décor Products to expand, he says.

“We have found that the model that worked for us in kitchen and bath is working in other areas so we are creating an infrastructure that is scalable and that we can apply to categories that have characteristics similar to kitchen and bath,” Golden says.

The model, he says, focuses on luxury-quality home goods that appeal to an affluent niche of consumers. “We are really focused on the high-end category in ways that differentiate us from the big boxes,” Golden says.

In addition, he says the explosive growth of interest in home improvement products has fueled growth at Home Décor sites. Home Décor is No. 111 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites.

Home Décor Products is also launching Hechinger.com, a new online store offering a wide range of home-improvement tools and hardware.
