Shop.com appoints two industry veterans to its executive team
Shop.com has tapped former executives at eBay and DoubleClick Inc. for two new additions to its management team. The online marketplace has named Karen Casella, formerly director of application architecture at eBay as its vice president of site development; and Drew Green, formerly head of DoubleClick’s retail and catalog vertical, as vice president of sales and merchant development.
“We are delighted to add Karen and Drew to our executive team,” says Bruce Sellers, president of Shop.com. “They each made significant contributions to the rapid growth of two of the Internet‘s most prominent companies. We believe their contributions to Shop.com will be invaluable as the company enters into its next growth phase.”
In her new role, Casella will be responsible for the development of the Shop.com online marketplace including collaborating with the site design team, building scalable software solutions and leading the company’s software development, testing and release efforts. Her previous experience with eBay is part of a 20-year tenure in the engineering and software development industry, which also included 11 years with Sun Microsystems.
In his new role, Green will lead the worldwide sales team to expand the merchant base and work with new merchants to ensure their success on Shop.com. Immediately prior to joining Shop.com, he was with Verified Person, a provider of web-based information and identification verification solutions. During his earlier time at DoubleClick, he initially headed up the East Coast sales team.
