More than half of web shoppers make purchases offline: Burst Media Survey

More than half of consumers who shop online purchase the items offline, according to a new survey from Burst Media. In a survey of 6,100 web users, Burst found that 50.3% window-shop online only while 49.7% make purchases online.

The most popular shopping activities among window-shoppers are comparing different retailers to find the best price (69.3%), researching and comparing the features of different brands (69.2%), and finding the closest store location where they can make a purchase (45%), according to Burst.

Female window-shoppers are more likely to use the Internet to find store locations than male window-shoppers (50.3% vs. 39.9%).

Among online shoppers, 83.2% say they expect to use the Internet to research and/or purchase gifts during the December holiday season, and 44.3% say they will use the Internet more than they did last year. Half of the shoppers say they will use the Internet about the same amount as last year and 5.7% say they will use it less, Burst found.
