Walmart.com purchases content assets from Garden.com

Walmart.com has acquired the content assets of Garden.com, the online retailer of gardening products which shut down in December. The assets include Garden.com's editorial, interactive and film content. "We have long been impressed with the richness, quality and depth of Garden.com's site experience," said Greg Penner, vice president of Business Development. "We will be evaluating how to best integrate this content, as we are convinced it will add to the overall customer experience at Walmart.com." Said Cliff Sharples, president and CEO of Garden.com. "We are pleased that the unique content developed by our superb team will live on at Walmart.com." Walmart.com says it will look for ways to integrate parts of the content into Wal-Mart's garden centers nationwide as well as, on a limited basis, into the Walmart.com site this year, with fuller integration into the site next year.
