Hunter Douglas dealers increase sales leads from the Internet
Using web sites hosted by ChannelNet, retail dealers for window coverings provider Hunter Douglas report sharp increases in sales leads from the web, as leads from print media decline. “We know that 19% of our business is now coming from people who found us on the Internet,” says Diane Winsby of Santa Rosa, CA, dealer Drapes & More Interiors. “This is up from less than 5% a couple of years ago. And the number of consumers who find us in the printed yellow pages is correspondingly decreasing.”
In addition, consumers who find her store online tend to buy more than other shoppers, she says. “Consumers who find us online are high caliber buyers, often moving into the area with no familiarity about where to buy. Instead of cruising the yellow pages, they surf the Internet to find us.”
Hunter Douglas launched 300 web sites for its highest volume dealers a few years ago through ChannelNet. This past July, it expanded its web site program to include another 2,000 dealers, said Jeff Janke, vice president of retail alliance programs for Hunter Douglas. “We recognize that the Internet is becoming a more integral part of our dealers’ business,” he said.
ChannelNet provides each dealer the ability to manage its web site’s content, including customizable rich media. Each dealer also has access to a Hunter Douglas extranet, where non-technical dealer employees can access and manage sales and marketing tools, training materials and performance reports.
