VeriSign pays $30 million for web content provider Moreover Technologies
VeriSign Inc., a provider of infrastructure and security technology to support Internet transactions, has paid about $30 million to acquire new-age web content provider Moreover Technologies, VeriSign said today.
Moreover is a wholesale aggregator of real-time content, including more than 12,000 news sources and millions of blogs across 126 countries and 25 languages. Search engines and web portals Search engines and web portals use its content to drive traffic to web sites. Blogs, or weblogs, are web sites that companies and individuals use to quickly create online content intended for targeted or general audiences.
“By combining the intelligent content of Moreover`s aggregation services with RSS feeds and the reliability of our server infrastructure, VeriSign will provide our customers with a highly relevant source of real-time information," said Mark McLaughlin, senior vice president and general manager of VeriSign`s Naming and Directory Services. "The new services will make it easier for publishers and bloggers to distribute and track their content, as well as for our enterprise and web portal customers to improve the reliability and quality of their feeds as the demand for RSS and Blog information continues to grow." RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, a protocol for distributing web content.
