The Finish Line and Sports Illustrated team up for an e-commerce launch

The Finish Line is rolling out a new e-commerce relationship with Sports Illustrated.

Under the new arrangement, The Finish Line, No. 130 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, will support the e-commerce infrastructure and supply some merchandise for a new shopping portal on SI.com, the main web site for Sports Illustrated, a weekly sports magazine published by Time Warner.

The new web store, SI Shop, will offer one-stop shopping for sports enthusiasts and will carry licensed sports apparel, including hats and jerseys, as well as additional footwear, apparel and accessories sold by Finish Line. Over time SI Shop will also include various publishing products such as classic covers and calendars from Sports Illustrated.

“SI.com will allow us to expand our presence on the web, a channel which continues to grow,” says Finish Line CEO Alan Cohen. “SI Shop provides us with an excellent opportunity to increase Finish Line's brand awareness to a larger, more diversified audience.” SI.com attracts more than 1 million unique monthly visitors who are primarily male sports fans, says Time Warner.
